Trainer Profile - Jeremy Ford
Jeremy Ford has over thirty years experience in the Banking and Financial Markets, involved in areas from the sterling money markets through to derivatives trading, structured derivatives, Eurobond new issuance, structured assets and financial engineering.
He has held senior and Board level positions at international US, UK and European banks and is now a highly sought after resource to governments and commercial banks in both developed and emerging markets.
Following his upbringing in West Africa and an early military career as an officer in HM Armed Forces he was directed into the London financial markets.
As money broker Jeremy led a corporate money market sales team, and then joined the futures markets, working at the IMM in Chicago and on the trading floor of LIFFE.
Subsequently moving to Bankers Trust in London initially he was an interest rate swap trader and progressed to become head of the financial derivatives sales and financial institutions origination team as part of the bank’s capital markets activities.
On joining HSBC he assumed the role of Head of European Derivatives Sales, continuing this role when HSBC merged with Midland bank. Then he moved to West Merchant Bank (a part of the WestLB Group) and was appointed to the main board. In this position he was of head of marketing and sales for the Global Derivatives and Fixed Income Group and latterly also treasury sales. In addition was part of the team that ran this division, specifically with global risk management oversight and responsible to the board of WestLB for the securitisation of bank assets.
Throughout his career he has been continually involved in bank enterprise, treasury, market, credit, operational and liquidity risk management, training and lecturing to delegates worldwide on a wide range of subjects relating to financial markets, bank management and currently on the issues surrounding the implementation of Basel II, most recently in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Nigeria and the Middle East. He is the co-author of the Central Bank of Indonesia’s Risk Management and Banking Regulations and delivers training for over 40,000 financial service specialists there on a continual basis.
Jeremy is a qualified and experienced risk consultant and trainer. He has been an accredited trainer of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and Association of Chartered Treasurers (ACT) Education training to examination in the past, and was also recently granted an Approved Trainer status by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) for their Treasury OTC Derivatives course programme in Northern Ireland. Recent training assignments include Risk Management for Professionals (Lagos, Dubai) for the Financial Institutions Training Centre (Central Bank of Nigeria).
He is currently active on a variety of projects including a risk assignment in the Philippines for GARP, the Global Association of Risk Professionals, on behalf of the Asian Development Bank; serving on the Investment Committee and consulting toward the set up and monitoring of the London Trading Room Operations for a Swiss asset management company. Jeremy has been the Head of Banking, Treasury and Risk at Risk Reward since 2007.
